About Us

The primary goal of all-timebaseball is to provide fun and accurate baseball simulations. We do this by providing a game engine that introduces a minimum of subjectivity to game simulations, and by providing unique game options. Our Hall of Fame, Negro Leagues, and Scrubs game options are unlike any other on the web. The concept of user created teams to compete against historic teams is also unique. In the near future we will unveil other unique game options. Each game option is designed to test the skill and baseball knowledge of the user. In addition to providing great game simulations, we want to be the web's number 1 provider of information and content about the Negro leagues. We will do this by conducting research in an effort to objectively compare the Negro Leagues and the Major Leagues. Long term, we hope to build a web accessible repository of primary source information about the Negro Leagues, in particular boxscores from newspapers or other information that contains game statistics.

About the Game

Our games are designed to reward the baseball aficionado and to intrigue the baseball novice. Actual player statistics are used to predict player performance. Both the player's performance during the prime of his career and lifetime performance influence his performance in the simulation. The following is a brief overview of the game occurrences and player characteristics that are considered by our simulation.

For Batters, the likelihood of the batter:

1) getting a hit
2) gwtting an extra base hit (HR, 3B, 2B)
3) being issued a base on balls
4) hitting a sacrifice
5) hitting into a double play
6) attempting to steal
7) stealing a base successfully
8) player striking out

For Pitchers:

1) the relative effect on the likelihood of the batter getting a hit
2) the likelihood of walking a batter
3) the likelihood of striking out a batter
4) the likelihood of the batter obtaining an extra base hit
5) how quickly the pitcher tires

The pitcher variables above are based on normalized statistics. This means that the performance of the pitcher in the various categories listed above is based on his performance relative to his contemporaries.

What's not considered in the simulation:

1) errors*
2) ballpark factors
3) weather (The sun always shines in our world.)

*Major leaguers make so few errors that errors are relatively unimportant predictors of the outcome of theoretical match-ups, such as we are concerned with. Consider that the difference between the fielding percentage of the best fielding team in a league and the worst fielding team is often about one percent. When considering fielding, of more importance would be the extra put-outs per game obtained by an exceptionally strong throwing arm, or increased range of a fielder. As of yet, this characteristic is not considered, as an objective way to estimate this is very hard to come by.

In certain cases of user dissatisfaction, additional teams or simulations may be granted to the user. Complaints will be reviewed on a case by case basis. In the event of user dissatisfaction, contact us via email. We will attempt to respond to inquiries in a timely manner, but make no guarantee as to the timeliness of response to such inquiries.

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION

You choose the name of your teams for both exhibition games and league games. We hope you will take the opportunity to choose a clever team name. However, the team names must not be offensive or obscene. Posting such an offensive name is grounds for dismissal from a league, without refund of money or any other type of compensation.
